Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Test Automation Academy (“Tech with Jatin”, “we”, “us”) collects, processes, shares, and protects your personal data when you visit techwithjatin.com, enroll in our courses on courses.techwithjatin.com, or interact with us via WhatsApp or email. It is written to meet the requirements of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

2. Personal data we collect

We only collect what we need for the purposes listed below.

  • You give us directly: name, email, phone number, country, billing address (for invoices), course progress and submissions, replies and messages you send us.
  • Collected automatically when you visit: IP address, country (via Cloudflare), browser type, referring URL, pages viewed, device type, approximate location at the country level. Cookies and similar technologies (described in Section 9).
  • From payment processors: we never store your card or UPI details. Razorpay (for INR payments) and Stripe (for USD payments) handle the payment and return only a transaction reference, last 4 digits of the card, and the amount to us.
  • Sensitive data: we do not knowingly collect government identifiers (Aadhaar, PAN), biometrics, or financial account details beyond what payment processors hand back to us. Do not paste such data into our forms or chat.

3. Why we process your data (Purpose & Lawful Basis)

  • To deliver the course you bought — account creation on the LMS, video access, certificates, support. Lawful basis: performance of contract.
  • To process payments and issue invoices — including GST compliance. Lawful basis: legal obligation + contract.
  • To respond to course enquiries on WhatsApp, email, and the lead/syllabus forms. Lawful basis: your consent (you ticked the box) + steps to enter into a contract.
  • To send transactional emails (welcome packet, payment receipt, access reminders, replies) via ZeptoMail. Lawful basis: contract.
  • To send marketing emails (newsletter, new course announcements) only if you subscribed. Lawful basis: consent. You can unsubscribe anytime.
  • To improve the website via Google Analytics 4 (page views, conversion funnels, no personally identifiable information shared). Lawful basis: consent (implied by continuing to use the site).
  • To prevent fraud, abuse, and account sharingon the LMS. Lawful basis: legitimate interest.

4. Who we share data with (Processors)

We share only what each processor needs to do its job. We do not sell or rent your personal data.

  • Razorpay Software Pvt Ltd — INR payments, invoices.
  • Stripe Payments India Pvt Ltd / Stripe Inc. — USD payments.
  • ZeptoMail (Zoho Corp Pvt Ltd) — transactional and newsletter email delivery.
  • Cloudflare Inc. — DNS, DDoS protection, geo-IP, basic bot filtering.
  • DigitalOcean LLC — managed PostgreSQL database hosting (Bengaluru region).
  • Bunny.net — video CDN for course lectures (no PII; only video streaming logs).
  • Google LLC — Google Analytics 4 (anon analytics) and YouTube Data API (public channel content only).
  • Meta Platforms Inc. and LinkedIn Corp. — only when you click an embedded video or social link; we do not run their pixels in the page itself by default.

Some of these processors are based outside India (United States, Europe). When we transfer data internationally, we rely on each processor's standard contractual clauses and on the DPDP Act's rules on cross-border transfers.

5. How long we keep your data

  • Lead and enquiry data (name, email, phone, source page) — kept while we are actively in touch with you and for up to 24 months after the last interaction, then deleted on request.
  • Student account and course progress — retained while your access term is active and for as long as legally required to retain invoices (currently 8 years under Indian GST law).
  • Payment records and invoices — 8 years per Indian tax law.
  • Server logs (IP, request path, status code) — 30 days for security review.
  • Newsletter subscribers — until you unsubscribe.

6. Your rights (DPDP Act, 2023)

You have the following rights regarding your personal data. To exercise any of them, email [email protected] with the subject line “DPDP request”. We will respond within 30 days.

  • Right to access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to correction and erasure of inaccurate, incomplete, or unnecessary data.
  • Right to withdraw consent at any time, including consent to receive marketing emails. Withdrawal does not affect processing that already happened with your consent.
  • Right to grievance redressal. If our response is unsatisfactory, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India once it is operational.
  • Right to nominate another person to exercise these rights in case of your death or incapacity.

7. Children

Our courses are designed for adults pursuing technical careers. We do not knowingly collect personal data of children under 18. If a parent or guardian believes their child has registered on our LMS, email us at [email protected] and we will delete the account and associated data.

8. Security

We use TLS 1.2+ for all traffic, hash passwords with bcrypt, store database backups encrypted at rest, and rotate access tokens periodically. Payments are handled exclusively by Razorpay and Stripe in their PCI-DSS environments; we never receive raw card data. Despite best efforts, no system is perfectly secure. If you suspect a breach affecting your account, email us immediately.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a minimal set of cookies and local storage entries:

  • Authentication cookies on the LMS to keep you logged in.
  • Cloudflare and security cookies for bot filtering.
  • Google Analytics cookies (`_ga`, `_gid`) for aggregated traffic analytics. IP addresses are truncated before being sent to Google.
  • localStorage entries we set on the marketing site: twj-theme (your light/dark preference), twj_lead (your name/email/phone so you don't re-type them on the next form), and a one-shot WhatsApp popup flag. Nothing is shared off your device.

You can clear these from your browser settings at any time. Clearing twj_lead will simply make the next lead form on this site ask for your details again.

10. Updates to this policy

We may update this policy when our processors, retention periods, or legal obligations change. We'll update the “Last updated” date at the top and, for material changes, send a notice to subscribed students by email.
